GREENSBORO, N.C. — After 36 holes of the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate, senior Dylan Wu sits in first place, carding under-par rounds of 69 and 70 to start the event.
Grandover Resort's East Course, the host of the event, played very difficult in day one, with average scores of 77.1. Wu, the reigning unanimous First Team All-Big Ten winner, found the course no issue with his field-leading scores.
He is 5-under heading into Sunday's competition, two strokes better than the pair of golfers tied for second place.
Wu finished with 10 birdies on the day — six of which came in round two. He helped lead the Wildcats to a third-place location after 36 holes. NU only trails leader Duke by five strokes with 18 holes left to play.
Junior Ryan Lumsden joins Wu in the top-10, tied for sixth at 2-over. His 1-under 71 in the second round catapulted him to his position.
First-year Ethan Farnam, playing in his second-straight event as an individual, is tied for 20th.
The Wildcats tee off with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start tomorrow morning to wrap up the event.
