EVANSTON, Illinois – Ethan Farnam (Crystal Lake, IL/ Prairie Ridge H.S.) will join the Northwestern men's golf program, head coach David Inglis announced on Wednesday. The two-time Northwest Herald Golfer of the Year will enroll for the university's 2017 fall quarter.
"We're thrilled to welcome Ethan to the Northwestern golf family," said Inglis. "We have been fortunate to get to know Ethan really well through his involvement in the Wildcat Golf Academy and he is the first WGA player we have signed to the Men's team. He has a strong work ethic and has shown continual improvement throughout his junior career, two characteristics that [Director of Golf ] Pat [Goss] and I value highly and will enable him to develop into a great player at Northwestern."
The 2015 Illinois State Junior Champion also qualified for the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship at Olympia Fields, qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in both 2014 and 2016, and was a 2015 U.S. Junior PGA qualifier.
His decorated scholastic resume at Prairie Ridge included four Northwest Herald First Team All-Area nods and four All-Fox Valley Conference selections. The Wolves team captain earned four straight selections as the program's Most Valuable Player and was honored as the Northwest Herald¹s Golfer of the Year following both his junior and senior campaigns.
Farnam, who intends to major in economics at Northwestern, earned high academic honors in six consecutive high school semesters and was recognized as an Illinois State Scholar.
