'Cats Tee Off at Puerto Rico Classic Sunday

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues its 2016 spring schedule on Sunday in Rio Grande, P.R., for the three-day Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue.
The 54-hole stroke play event will feature 18 holes a day at the Rio Mar Country Club's River Course, which checks in at par-72 for 6,945 yards. Live stats for the event will be available at www.birdiefire.com.
The impressive 15-team field for the event boasts five of the nation's top 15 teams in Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma, Purdue, and Alabama, and 9 of the top 32. Other highlights of the field include Big Ten foes Maryland, Michigan, and Minnesota. In addition, five of the top 20 golfers and 21 of the top 100, according to the Golfstat rankings, will be competing.
Northwestern took down 14th ranked Purdue last weekend in the B1G Match Play Championship and finished second overall in the event after finishing 3-1 and reaching the Championship round.
Dylan Wu led the Wildcats this past fall season, competing in all four events for the Purple and White. Wu finished the fall campaign with three top-25 performances and a third-place finish at the Windon Memorial in September.
The Wildcats ast competed in Puerto Rico in 2014. Led by then-senior Jack Perry's career-best 9-under 63 on the final day of competition, Northwestern jumped up in the standings in the final round. At the 2013 Puerto Rico Classic, NU sat in 11th position following 18 holes before surging to finish in sixth place.
