After a 2-0 finish in Friday's (Feb. 12) matches, the Wildcats opened today's play with a 3.5-2.5 win over Purdue in the morning match to earn a spot on the Championship. Northwestern earned a second-place team finish after dropping the final match of the day to Michigan State, 5-1.
Michigan State earned the team title, while Purdue finished third, Indiana in fourth place, fifth-place Penn State, Minnesota in sixth place, seventh-place Michigan, Iowa in eighth place, ninth-place Nebraska and Rutgers rounding out the event in 10th place.
The Wildcats finished the tournament 3-1 overall and are 24-5 all-time.
BTN will broadcast the 2015 Big Ten Match Play Championship on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. CST.
Northwestern will waste little time getting back to tournament action as the 'Cats will head to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Sunday through Tuesday, Feb. 21-23, for Puerto Rico Classic. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played at Rio Mar Country Club.
