Northwestern will wrap up its fall schedule at the Gifford Collegiate at the Silverado Resort and Spa North Course. The 'Cats tee off in Napa, California, beginning Monday, Nov. 7, for the three-day event.
The Gifford Collegiate, which in the past had featured 54 holes of stroke play, will be played under a new format this year. The eight-team field will play 36 holes of stroke play on Monday to seed into Tuesday and Wednesday's match play. Tuesday will feature the match play quarterfinals in the morning and the match play semifinals/consolation in the afternoon, followed by the Wednesday championship and consolation bracket matches. Each team will play three match-play contests.
Junior Dylan Wu won the event his freshman year in 2014 with a 9-under 204.
The Wildcats are coming off a third-place team finish last week at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. The top finishers for the 'Cats were juniors Dylan Wu and Sam Triplett, who closed out the tournament ranked fourth overall in the individual standings. Freshmen Everton Hawkins had his strongest performance of the year with a 16th-place overall finish to round out the top 20 for Chicago's Big Ten Team. Hawkins shot a team-best 5-under 67 in the second round to mark the best round of any Wildcat so far this season.
