EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern squares off against Wake Forest in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup Monday evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip time is set for 8 p.m.

Northwestern's Student-Athlete Advisory Council will be on site collecting cash and canned foods for the annual Canned Food Drive. Fans are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for donation.

Northwestern is 7-10 in its first 17 Challenge matchups, including an 81-79 overtime win at Virginia Tech last season. The 'Cats are 4-4 in their previous eight Challenge home games.

The Wildcats are coming off an 86-66 home win over Bryant on Friday. Vic Law led NU with 22 points while Scottie Lindsey chipped in with 20. Gavin Skelly contributed career bests of 15 points, 6 assists and 3 blocks off the bench. Northwestern matched a school record with 12 blocked shots in the contest.

Monday's matchup features two of the top 3-point shooting teams in the nation. Wake Forest leads the ACC (10th nationally) at 43.9 percent shooting from behind the arch while Northwestern is first in the Big Ten (14th nationally) at 43.5 percent.

Northwestern is playing its second game of a five-game homestand and is in a stretch of eight straight games in the Chicagoland area to wrap up nonconference play. The Wildcats have won their last 15 home games against nonconference opponents.

Monday's contest is the first meeting between Northwestern and Wake Forest.

Sophomore center Dererk Pardon has established himself as a force in the post in his first season as a starter. He already has 16 blocked shots through six games (2.7 pg; 2nd in Big Ten), surpassing his total of 12 blocks from all of last season. His 6 blocks against Notre Dame Nov. 22 rank as a tie for the fifth most in a game in school history.

Like Pardon, Scottie Lindsey also is thriving in his first year as a starter. The junior is second on the team in scoring (15.5 ppg) after averaging 6.4 points per game last season. The wing is has posted impressive shooting numbers, hitting 49.3 percent from the field, 48.1 percent from 3-point range and 93.3 percent from the free throw line.

Scouting Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons (5-1) are coming off an 86-74 home win over Coastal Carolina last Wednesday. John Collins paced Wake Forest with 20 points and 13 rebounds. He leads the team with averages of 18.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest. Bryant Crawford contributes 13.8 points and 6.3 assists per game. Wake Forest ranks 10th nationally in 3-point percentage (.439), 15th in field goal percentage (.513) and 19th in free throw percentage (.787).
