Wildcats Finish Third at Bridgestone Golf Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- After shooting 25-under 839 as a squad, Northwestern closed out the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate with a third-place team finish on Monday afternoon in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Five Wildcats competed at the Grandover Resort in a field of 13 teams. Duke came out on top at 30-under 834 followed closely by Iowa State at 26-under 838. Georgia State had the top individual finisher, Nick Budd, who finished 12-under 204.
The top finishers for the 'Cats were juniors Dylan Wu and Sam Triplett, who closed out the tournament ranked fourth overall in the individual standings. Wu finished day three with a stellar round of 4-under 68, while Triplett wrapped up the tournament for the best finish of his career with a team-best 17 birdies. The duo closed out the finale at 8-under 208.
Freshmen Everton Hawkins had his strongest performance of the year with a 16th-place overall finish to round out the top 20 for Chicago's Big Ten Team. Hawkins shot a team-best 5-under 67 in the second round to mark the best round of any Wildcat so far this season. He closed out the tournament at 5-under 211 after a 1-under 71 performance in the third round.
Fifth-year senior Andrew Whalen finished among the field's top-30, coming in at 27th overall after shooting 2-under 214 through 54 holes of competition. Whalen shot an impressive 3-under 69 in the second round with seven birdies and sealed the third round at 3-over 75.
Ryan Lumsden finished the tournament at even par in 35th place.
The Wildcats are back in action on Nov. 7, when they tee off at the Gifford Collegiate in Napa, California.
