
Northwestern Drops Dual Meet to Iowa

EVANSTON, Ill. — The Northwestern University men's swimming and diving team fell to Iowa, 174.5-125.5, on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off his Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week honor, Carter Page continued to impress in the 1,000 free event. His first-place time of 9:23.96 was over 12 seconds faster than the runner-up. Page followed up his freestyle distance performance by winning the 500 free (4:34.45) later on in the dual.
Fellow freshman Anthony Marcantonio also had an impressive day in the pool, claiming a pair of first-place finishes. The Centerville, Mass., native swam a career-best 1:39.28 in the 200 free before winning the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.57.
On the diving side, junior Andrew Cramer earned nine points for Northwestern in the 3-meter dive with a score of 366.90.
With the Wildcats in need of points, sophomore Almog Olshtein edged Iowa's Jack Smith by two-tenths of a second to grab the win in the 50 free. His time of 20.41 is the fastest of the season.
In the 200 fly, freshmen Justin Hanson and Arjun Sharma both posted top times of 1:49.43 and 1:54.69 to place second and third, respectively.
Northwestern returns to action next weekend when it hosts its final home meet of they year against Minnesota and Purdue. Events will take place on Friday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. and again on Saturday, Jan. 30 at noon.
