MADISON, Wisc. - Northwestern men's swimming and diving will travel to the University of Wisconsin for the 2026 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center in Madison from Feb. 25-28.

NU got off to a strong start at the 2026 Big Ten Championships, claiming two podium finishes with two school record performances. In the 200 Medley Relay, Stuart Seymour, Josh Staples, Aaron Baltaytis and Oli Kós posted a 1:22.95 finish. Earning 3rd place on the podium, the NCAA A cut mark also accomplished a team record. Taking on another relay final, the 'Cats clocked a 6:15.99 finish in the 800 Free Relay, marking another school record. Staples set the pace for the quartet, with a school-record lead-off 200 free in 1:33.37. Competing with Kós, Connor Schuster and Diego Nosack, NU earned 7th place in the event. Diving rounded out the day, as Ryan Augustine, Adam Cohen and Kyle Ly claimed 2nd in the team exhibition event.

With four new school records and 15 fresh personal bests, Northwestern continued its strong start to the Big Ten Championships, closing day two of competition with four podium finishes. The 'Cats earned 17 showings in Thursday's finals, highlighted by school records and podium finishes in the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 1M Dive and 200 Free Relay. Stuart Seymour posted a 44.66 program and personal best in his preliminary 100 Fly race, earning him an NCAA A Cut time and spot in the A Final. In the finals, Josh Staples claimed fourth with a program and personal best mark of 3:37.62 in the 400 IM, notching another A Cut time for the sophomore. On the boards, Ryan Augustine competed in the A Final, ultimately earning fifth with a score of 358.15. Augustine's fifth-place finish marked the highest finish for a male 1M diver in program history at the Big Ten Championships. In the 200 Free, Oli Kós notched a program and personal best finish of 1:33.13 for 12th and to meet the A Cut. To close out the night, Connor Schuster, Seymour, Kós and Cade Duncan took 4th in the 200 Free Relay, finishing in 1:16.03. The school record finish also earned an NCAA A Cut time.

500 Free 50 Free 400 Medley Relay Competing in 10 finals on day three of the 2026 Men's Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships, Northwestern earned three podium finishes. With five NCAA A Cut performances, the 'Cats battled at the top of the conference on Friday. Highlighting the day, NU won bronze in the 400 Medley Relay, claiming a second relay medal on the week with an impressive school record mark. Stuart Seymour, Josh Staples, Connor Schuster and Cade Duncan swam the 400 medley relay and clocked a 3:02.03 finish, marking an A Cut time and establishing a new team best in the event. The previous record was set in 2007 (3:04.40) by Matt Grevers, Mike Alexandrov, Kyle Bubolz and Bruno Barbic to win the NCAA Championship in the event. The current 'Cats bested the mark by over two seconds to claim bronze. Staples and Seymour also made individual trips to the podium on Friday, in the 200 Breast and 100 Back, respectively. Staples earned eighth with a mark of 1:54.11, while Seymour took fourth after clocking in at 44.86. Through three complete days of the championships, NU stands in sixth place with 514 points. Jack Doyle was named a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.

On the fourth and final day of the 2026 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, Northwestern finished strong, earning eight podium finishes. With two individual medals claimed and five school records broken, the Wildcats jumped two spots in the team standings after day three, to finish in fourth place (840 points). The highest NU men's finish in the Big Ten Championships in 20 years; NU competed at the top of its game during the week, setting a total of 12 new school records in Madison.
Saturday's finals began with the 200 IM, in which Josh Staples claimed fourth. The sophomore had a strong prelim performance, earning new personal and school record marks, only to best them both again in the finals. Staples clocked a 1:41.61 A Cut finish in the event. In the 100 Free, Stuart Seymour and Cade Duncan competed in neighboring lanes for the A Final. Tight until the end, Duncan took third (41.89) with a new personal best, while Seymour posted a 41.87 finish for second. Seymour's personal best mark set a new school record, which had been set by Duncan in the morning's prelim. The second-place finish for the junior also earned him All-Big Ten Second Team honors. David Gerchik and Oli Kós competed in the A Final for the 200 Back, earning sixth and fourth, respectively. Both claiming A Cut times, Gerchik posted a 1:40.97 finish, while Kós clocked in at 1:40.33. Adam Cohen (7th, 344.0) and Kyle Ly (8th, 326.55) competed in the platform diving A Final for NU. To conclude the conference championships, Duncan, Seymour, Connor Schuster and Kós teamed up for the 400 Free Relay. Setting yet another new program best, the quartet clocked in at 2:48.44 for an A Cut fourth-place finish.
