Miller Shoots Even-Par Finale at Illini Invite

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Northwestern finished its first tournament of the 2015-16 season with an 11th-place team finish at OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, hosted by Illinois at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The team's tournament-best 8-over 288 in Sunday's final round left them in 11th place among the 15-team field at 39-over 879 on the final day of competition.
Florida State ran away with the team title at 6-over 846, while Stanford's Maverick McNealy claimed the individual title (7-under par).
Sophomore Dylan Wu had NU's top finish of the tournament with a 20th place effort. The sophomore shot 3-over par on Sunday, including a birdie on the back nine. The sophomore closed out the tournament at 6-over 216.
Freshman Luke Miller had the most successful final round for the Wildcats, carding four birdies to finish the day at even-par 70. The rookie finished the tournament tied for 50th as an individual, shooting 13-over 223 through three days of competition.
Andrew Whalen returned to the course after earning a medical redshirt for the 2014-15 season. Whalen drained a pair of birdies on Sunday en route to a 2-over 72. He finished 36th in the overall standings at 10-over 220.
Newcomer Ryan Lumsden shot 2-over 72 in both the second and third rounds on his way to a 38th-place finish at 11-over 221 in his collegiate debut. Senior Josh Jamieson rounded out play for the Wildcats, shooting 25-over par over three days.
