PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Northwestern concluded play at The Goodwin hosted by Stanford Saturday, wrapping up its Spring Break trip through California with a 16th place finish among the 24-team field at Stanford Golf Course.

Northwestern shot a final round 10-over 289 to card a 54-hole score of 20-over 860 (288-283-289). NU was two strokes behind a 14th-place tie between San Jose State and BYU while finishing four shots in back of 13th-place Loyola Marymount.

No. 38 UAB and No. 32 SMU tied atop the team standings as two of seven top-40 Golfstat.com squads among the field.

Junior Josh Jamieson (St. Andrews, Scotland/High School of Dundee) led Northwestern with his second-straight under-par total at The Goodwin, finishing Saturday at 1-under 69 despite taking a triple-bogey on the back nine. Jamieson played an even par front side, made bogey at No. 10, then carded five birdies in an eight-hole stretch with the only speed bump in that hot streak a 7 on the 361-yard par-4 15th.

Jamieson finished 64th overall in the field at 5-over 215 (77-69-69) with a pair of 69s after a slow start to the tournament.

Dylan Wu (Medford, Ore./St. Mary's School) made the turn in the final round at 2-under par following back-to-back birdies at Nos. 8 and 9. Three bogeys on the back nine left him in black numbers at 1-over 71, though he still was Northwestern's highest finisher among the individual field as its most consistent performer throughout the week. Wu was 1-over 211 (72-68-71) to place 33rd overall.

Senior Bennett Lavin (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) started the final round bogey-bogey before making a birdie at the 215-yard par-3 third hole. From there, he holed 12 straight par putts until two late bogeys left him at 3-over 73 for the round and 11-over 221 (70-78-73) for the tournament, good for 90th place.

Matthew Negri (El Cajon, Calif./Grossmont) had five bogeys during a 5-over 40 on the front nine before he played much better on the way in, using a 1-over 36 to complete a 6-over 76 in the final round of The Goodwin. Negri finished 90th in the field alongside Lavin with an 11-over 221 (73-72-76).

Charles Wang (Beijing, China/Sarasota Christian School) had five pars to start his Saturday before a quadruple bogey 8 on the par-4 sixth. From there, he ended up at 10-over 80 for the round to finish 112th at 17-over 227 (73-74-80).

Competing as individuals, freshman Sam Triplett (Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy Prep) shot a 6-over 76 in the final round while senior Scott Smith (Pepper Pike, Ohio/University School) had a 7-over 77. Triplett finished tied with Lavin and Negri in 90th with an 11-over 221 (76-69-76) and Smith placed 121st with a 21-over 231 (74-80-77).

Northwestern has a week off before returning to competition April 11-12 at Ohio State's Kepler Intercollegiate.
