EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Josh Jamieson (St. Andrews, Scotland/High School of Dundee) has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week following his top-10 performance at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate which concluded Tuesday.
Jamieson locked up a sixth-place finish with an incredibly steady effort, firing opening and closing even-par 72 rounds at the future home of the 2017 U.S. Open while the scoring in the field shot skyward due to windy conditions at the exposed expanse of Erin Hills. His highest score of the event, a 1-over 73 in the second round Monday, was just two strokes shy of the best total put up by any competitor on that day.
Jamieson's sixth-place finish was one place shy of his career best as a Wildcat. He has led Northwestern's lineup in each of the Wildcats' first two tournaments this season. Jamieson and NU immediately return to action this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12, as defending team champions at the Rod Myers Intercollegiate in Durham, N.C.
