EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern concludes its winter quarter competition schedule March 4-5 at the 50th anniversary edition of the Fresno State Lexus Classic at Belmont Country Club.

Play begins with a 9:30 a.m. CT/7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start for 36 holes on Monday, March 4, before another 9:30 a.m. CT/7:30 a.m. PT shotgun for Tuesday's final round. Belmont Country Club plays to a 6,570-yard, par-72 layout. Live results will be available via Golfstat while live coaching tweets from the course come courtesy of head coach Pat Goss at @NUGolf_Live.

The tournament is a 6-count-5 format, meaning each team in the event will field six golfers with the top five scores counting toward the team total. The majority of college tourneys are 5-count-4 affairs. NU did compete in one other 6-count-5 event earlier this year when it placed fifth at UCLA's Gifford Collegiate in November.

The 17-team field is headlined by No. 1 California along with No. 28 Northwestern, No. 44 BYU, No. 52 Oregon State, No. 54 Oregon and No. 59 Arizona as squads currently ranked in the top-60 of the Golstat.com ratings. Cal Poly, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, UC Irvine, Kansas State, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, UC Santa Barbara and Utah comprise the rest of the Lexus Classic entries.

Northwestern is coming off a solid sixth-place performance at the Puerto Rico Classic, which featured eight top-40 teams according to Golfstat.com. NU opened that event in a disappointing 11th before leaping up the standings with strong second and third rounds. Those efforts were spearheaded by sophomore Matthew Negri (El Cajon, Calif./Grossmont), who shot 69-68 to finish the tournament, and freshman Josh Jamieson (St. Andrews, Scotland/High School of Dundee), who carded the first two under-par rounds of his collegiate career.
