EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) has been named the Big Ten's Golfer of the Week following his performance at last week's Big Ten Match Play Championship.

Chun led Northwestern to its second-straight team title at the three-year-old tournament by providing a perfect 3-0 record, improving his career record at the Big Ten Match Play event to an undefeated 10-0-1.

Chun first defeated Michigan's Matt Thompson, 2 and 1, in the quarterfinal round during a 5-1 Wildcats' victory. He then provided the biggest win of the weekend, triumphing over his Illinois opponent by a final score of 5 and 3. That total proved huge after No. 4 seed Northwestern and the top-seeded Illini needed a total-holes-won tiebreaker to determine the winner of the match, and Chun's massive margin gave the edge to the Wildcats, pushing them into the finals.

In the title showdown, Northwestern defeated Indiana, 4-2, to win its second-consecutive crown at the Big Ten Match Play Championship. Chun again earned a victory in his match, this time defeating IU's Chase Wright 3 and 1.

Earlier this week, Chun also was named Golf World's College Player of the Week following his BTMP performance.
