COLUMBUS, Ohio -- One day after David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) matched a Robert Kepler Intercollegiate record for the lowest second-round score in tournament history, sophomore Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) equaled the lowest final-round score in relation to par in event history with a 4-under 67 to lead Northwestern to a third-place team finish in the Ohio State-hosted 11-team tournament.

Chun played both nines in 2-under par, carding three birdies and a bogey on the front side and two birdies on the back to surge into seventh place in the individual standings with a 54-hole total of 3-over 216 (73-76-67). His 67 is the lowest stroke total ever shot in the Kepler's final round and it matched the 4-under par 68 effort of Northwestern's John Edgley in 1991 in relation to par. Ohio State's Scarlet Course was redesigned from a par-72 to a 7,451-yard, par-71 layout in 2005-06.

Chun's 67 is his lowest total of the year and matched his career-best set last year at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, which was played on a par-70 course.

With three players finishing in the top 10 and four in the top 20, Northwestern ended up two strokes behind second place Penn State and four shots in back of tournament winner Eastern Michigan. The Wildcats were a whopping 12 strokes in front of the fourth-place finishers, Oklahoma.

Lipsky ended up tied for fourth place individually after a final-round 3-over 74 left him at 1-under 212 (71-67-74) after 54 holes of play. The Kepler is the third tournament this year Lipsky has finished under par. Lipsky played the front side in even par Sunday before a double bogey on No. 11 and a bogey on No. 13 put him at 3-over on his day. He recovered with a birdie on the par-4 16th, but finished with a bogey on the 18th hole.

Senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) came in tied for seventh at 3-over 216 (73-72-71 after en eventful day Sunday. Bowers shot a 4-over 40 on the front side before responding with a blistering 4-under 31 on the back. His back nine festivities got underway with an eagle on the 562-yard 12th hole before he made birdie at No. 13. A bogey at 14 was only a temporary setback before birdies at Nos. 16 and 18 finished out his day at even-par 71.

Junior Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) came in 17th overall with a 54-hole total of 8-over 221 (73-75-73). Dupont's final round began very well with a 2-under 34 on the front nine courtesy of birdies on Nos. 1 and 4. A double bogey on No. 10, however, foreshadowed a rough stretch of four-straight bogeys from Nos. 14 to 17. Dupont did keep the damage under control with back-nine birdies on Nos. 12 and 18 to come away with a 2-over 73 on Sunday.

Sophomore Sam Chien (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) had a hot start to his Sunday, making birdies on three of his first four holes. A double bogey on No. 5 and a bogey on No. 9, however, brought him back to even par at the turn. A tough 4-over stretch on Nos. 13, 14 and 15 accounted for his final round 4-over 75, leaving him at 33rd place in the field with an 11-over 224 (73-76-75).

Northwestern returns to action April 24-25 at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
