Northwestern Advances to Semifinals of Big Ten Match Play

Big Ten Match Play Championship Round Two Results (PDF Format) 
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Northwestern defeated No. 3 seed Michigan, 4-2, Friday afternoon at the Big Ten Match Play Championships at Heron Bay Golf Club to advance to the semifinals of the event.
The Wildcats will face No. 2 seed Iowa Saturday morning for the right to go to the Match Play Championship against either Minnesota or Purdue.
Junior Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) defeated Matt Thompson at No. 1 3-and-2 followed by a dominating win for David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) at No. 2, 5-and-4.
Sam Chien (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) also had a big 5-and-4 victory at the No. 5 spot before Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) wrapped up the win, 2-and-1 at the No. 4 spot.
Michigan won the No. 3 position with a victory on the 17th hole and took the No. 6 spot, 1-up.
