CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- No. 6 seed Northwestern defeated No. 2 seed Iowa, 3.5-2.5, Saturday morning in the semifinals of the Big Ten Match Play Championship at Heron Bay, advancing to the finals Saturday afternoon against Purdue.
Junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) was the hero for the Wildcats, coming back from three down with eight holes to play to win his match at the No. 3 position after Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) halved his match at the No. 4 spot.
Junior Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) was a big winner at No. 1 with a 6-and-5 victory while freshman Nick Losole (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Notre Dame) also had a big 4-and-3 win at the No. 6 spot.
Iowa won the matches at No. 2 and No. 5. Purdue was a 4.5-1.5 winner over Minnesota to reach the finals.
