EVANSTON, Ill. -- 1987 Northwestern alumnus Fran Quinn knocked in a 4-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole of the Nationwide Tour's Albertsons Boise Open on Sunday, Sept. 20, to win the event and place him 18th on the money list with five tournaments to play.

Quinn turned pro in 1988 after completing his Northwestern career, during which he earned a tournament victory in the 1986-87 season at the Illinois State Invitational. Sunday's win was the third for Quinn on the Nationwide Tour but his first since 2000, a span of 236 starts.

Quinn's winning check for $130,500 pushed his career earnings on Tour to $1,053,520. He is the 13th player to top the $1 million mark in Nationwide Tour history. The victory pushed Quinn from 94th on the 2009 money list to 18th; the top 25 money winners earn their PGA TOUR cards for the following year.
