Tough Day at Olympia Fields Puts 'Cats in 12th Position

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. -- Northwestern is in a tie for 12th place following day two Saturday at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, sitting knotted with Indiana at 41-over 601 after a tough day on the North Course.
The Wildcats are four strokes behind Augusta State, which is 11th and five shots ahead of Wake Forest, which is 14th. Arizona State leads the tournament with a 17-over 577 through 36 holes of play.
Playing in the final groups out, Northwestern fought to remain near the top of the standings throughout the day before playing the final two holes in 11-over par collectively. The Wildcats shot a 6-over 286 Friday to hold the 18-hole lead by two strokes before carding a 35-over 315 on Saturday.
First round leader Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) is in 16th place at 5-over 145 (68-77). Junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) also shot a 77 on Saturday and currently is 29th in the individual standings at 8-over 148 (71-78).
Freshman Nick Losole (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Notre Dame) is 42nd at 11-over 151 (71-80), senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) is 66th at 17-over 157 (76-81) and sophomore Sam Chien (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) is 74th at 23-over 163 (81-82).
The final round of the tournament gets underway at 8 a.m. CT tomorrow morning, Sunday, Sept. 20.
