Northwestern Vaults Four Spots to Fourth at NCAA Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Northwestern fired the third-best round of the day Friday at the NCAA South Central Regional to vault four places up to fourth place through 36 holes of play. The top five teams in the 13-team field advance to the NCAA National Championships.
The Wildcats fired a 13-over 301 to give themselves a 36-hole total of 27-over 603. Northwestern is five strokes behind second-place No. 28 UT-Chattanooga and four shots behind third-place No. 9 Arkansas while sitting two strokes in front of No. 21 LSU, which currently occupies the fifth-place spot. No. 4 Oklahoma State leads the Regional at 9-over par.
Northwestern was paired with No. 33 Pepperdine and No. 46 Baylor for Friday's second round, going off the No. 10 tees in the final tee-time slots of the day.
Freshman Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) finished Friday with a 1-over 73 following a wild round. He began his back nine with a bogey on the 10th hole before making seven-consecutive pars and finishing with a birdie on the par-5 18th. On his front side he made three birdies, two bogies and a double to end the day at 1-over. For the tournament, Chun is in 10th place at 3-over 147 (74-73).
Junior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) is one stroke behind Chun at 4-over 148 (72-76) to finish the first 36 holes in 14th position. Bowers made two birdies, four bogies and a double during his round Friday to compile a 4-over 76 on the heels of his even-par 72 Thursday.
Junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) played a solid opening nine, making one birdie and one bogey to card an even-par 36 on the back. After tallying a birdie on the par-3 third, Lipsky ran into trouble with a pair of bogies and a double bogey to finish the day at 3-over 75. For the Regional, Lipsky is in 33rd place at 9-over 153 (78-75).
Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) played the front nine Friday in 1-over par after beginning his day with a 4-over 40 on the back to finish at 5-over 77. He is in 41st place after 36 holes with an 11-over 155 (78-77).
Senior Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) rounded out NU's day with an 11-over 83 to rank in 61st place with a 17-over 161 (78-83).
