COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northwestern holds a one-stroke lead after the first two rounds of the Kepler Intercollegiate Saturday, pacing the 13-team field on the par-71 Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.

NU fired a 17-over 301 in the first round before carding a 12-over 296 in round two -- the best team score of the second 18 holes -- to sit in first at 29-over 597, one stroke better than No. 38 East Tennessee State and two strokes in front of Kent State.

Northwestern finished the first round in fourth place, six strokes off the lead. The Wildcats made a huge charge to start Saturday's second round, helped by a pair of early birdies from local product Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), to put NU into the lead entering Sunday at the very challenging Scarlet Course.

Junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) and Bowers both are in the top-10 after two rounds of play, with Lipsky tied for fourth and Bowers tied for ninth. Lipsky has a 5-over 147 (75-72) after a very steady second round in which he made one birdie, two bogies and 15 pars. Bowers is at 7-over 149 (75-74).

Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) fired identical scores of 4-over 75, currently occupying 14th place individually at 8-over 150. He made three birdies on the day, twice carding a four on the 562-yard par-5 12th and once on the 618-yard par-5 sixth.

Freshman Eric Chun's (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) day was highlighted by his first-collegiate hole-in-one, made during the first round on the par-3, 221-yard 13th hole. Chun finished Saturday at 9-over 151 (76-75) to enter Sunday in 18th position.

Senior Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) also is competing for the Wildcats at the Kepler, currently sitting in 57th place after back-to-back scores of 9-over 80.

Sunday's final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start.
