Northwestern Finishes 12th at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO MAR, P.R. -- Northwestern finished in a tie for 12th with Big Ten counterpart Minnesota at the Puerto Rico Classic after the Wildcats fired their best score of the event during Sunday's final round on the Rio Mar Country Club's River Course.
Northwestern shot a 2-over 290 Sunday to finish the tournament with a three-day total of 17-over 881, three strokes ahead of 14th place Purdue in the 15-team field. The field was an exceptionally strong one, featuring four of the nation's top five-ranked schools. All 15 teams came in ranked inside Golfweek's top 70.
Freshman Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) shot Northwestern's best round of the tournament with a Sunday total of 2-under 70, his fifth round of par or better in stroke play this season. He moved up to finish 35th in the individual standings with a three-round score of 3-over 219.
David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) and Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) both tied for 42nd overall in the tournament at 4-over 220. Lipsky had an even-par 72 on Sunday while DeKeuster turned in a 2-over 74.
Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) rounded out the Wildcats' scorers with a 2-over 74 on Sunday to finish The Classic with a 6-over 222.
Northwestern returns to action March 27-29 at the Spring Break Championship in Delray Beach, Fla.
