BATON ROUGE, La. -- Northwestern finished in 13th position following Tuesday's final round at the David Toms Intercollegiate hosted by LSU, carding a 54-hole total of 26-over 878 (279-292-307).
Northwestern was one stroke behind South Alabama and 14 strokes on top of Louisiana-Lafayette in the 14-team field. The host Tigers won the tournament, while Jade Scott of Rice won individual medalist honors.
Freshman Nick Losole (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Notre Dame) and senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) led the Wildcats with scores of 4-over 217 in the event. Losole was under par in each of his first two rounds before a rough outing in the final 18 holes left him at 217 (69-70-78). Bowers had NU's best round of the day Tuesday to tally his 217 (69-75-73). The pair tied for 33rd in the individual standings.
Junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) took 45th overall at 7-over 220 (72-73-75). Both Sam Chien (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) and Ravi Patel (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) each had rough final rounds, ending up in the 80's. Chien finished the tournament at 11-over 224 (69-74-81) and Patel came in at 21-over 234 (75-77-82).
Northwestern returns to action Monday-through-Wednesday, Nov. 9-11, at The Gifford Collegiate hosted by UCLA in San Martin, Calif. Before that, sophomore Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) is representing his native Korea in the Asian Amateur Championship Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Shenzhen, China.
