Northwestern Seeks Success at The Prestige at PGA West

EVANSTON, Ill. -- After opening the season with tournaments at two of Chicagoland's most outstanding golf courses, Northwestern returns to action Oct. 13-14 at The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
The Wildcats join a field of 15 other entrants -- including 10 ranked in the top-50 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings -- for the 54-hole Prestige hosted by the par-72, 7,156-yard Greg Norman Course. In addition to hosting The Prestige, the Norman Course also was a co-host for the PGA TOUR Pre-Qualifying Tournament in 2006 and 2007.
The event annually brings together some of the top academic and golf-playing institutions in the country for a two-day tournament, preceded by a juniors clinic and college pro-am. The tournament itself begins at 9:30 a.m. CT Monday, Oct. 13, with a shotgun start and 36 holes of play. The final round on Tuesday, Oct. 14, also is a 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
Washington, currently the No. 4 squad in the country according to Golfweek, headlines a field which also includes No. 12 Stanford, No. 17 Michigan State, No. 21 California, No. 25 Pepperdine, No. 28 Michigan and No. 30 Colorado. UC Davis is ranked No. 40 while Kentucky, ranked 42nd, and No. 49 Central Florida round out the top-50 squads in the tournament.
Northwestern, ranked 58th, No. 61 TCU, No. 97 Pacific, No. 110 Notre Dame and No. 117 Rice round out the deep tournament field.
Northwestern defeated both Michigan and Colorado at its own Windon Memorial Classic held Oct. 5-6 at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. Freshman Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) and senior Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) both had top-20 finishes for NU at the Windon, while sophomore Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) added a top-20 finish of his own as an individual in the tournament.
