Wildcats Compete in First Day of Olympia Fields Illini Invitational

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. -
Wildcat junior Andy DeKeuster (Franksville, Wis./Racine Lutheran) shot a team-best 5-over par 145 to put himself in a tie for 16th place individually and Northwestern is 10th as a group after the opening day of competition Sunday at the challenging Olympia Fields Illini Invitational.
Oklahoma State leads after the first two rounds, while the Cowboys' Rickie Fowler is individual leader after shooting a 7-under 133.
DeKeuster posted the Wildcats' top round of the day, firing a 1-over 71 through the opening 18 holes of play. Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) is just two shots behind DeKeuster and is in 25th place after carding a 7-over 147. Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) and Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) contributed to the closely bunched Northwestern scores by shooting +8 and +9 for the day, respectively.
The 12-team field consists of seven teams ranked in the top 25 and three more that are receiving votes.
