'Cats Finish Sixth at Tucker Invitational; Dougherty Places Fourth

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Playing in a field loaded with 2005 NCAA Tournament teams, Northwestern successfully started its 2005-06 season with a sixth-place showing in the 20-team William H. Tucker Invitational at the University of New Mexico.
Senior Dillon Dougherty (Woodland, Calif./Woodland) carded a 2-under 70 on Saturday and finished in fourth place with a 4-under 212 (68-74-70). UNLV, which won the Tucker team title, had the top two finishers with Andres Gonzales and Jarred Texter shooting respective scores of 9- and 7-under.
Junior Chris Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) placed 28th with a 3-over 219 (74-72-73). He fired a 1-over 73 on Saturday. Wilson's classmate, David Merkow (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead Union) shot a 6-over 222 (75-70-77) and finished 46th.
Sophomores Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) and Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) placed 63rd and 89th with respective 9-over and 17-over scores.
