EVANSTON, Ill. -- For members of Northwestern's men's golf team, it has been an outstanding month of July.
Last week, sophomore Kyle Moore (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) won the 49th Annual Eastern Amateur, while teammate Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) finished 12th.
On Friday, July 15, junior Chris Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) won the 99th Ohio Amateur golf championship -- arguably the top golf event in Ohio for non-professionals. Some of the previous winners for this event include PGA Tour legend Arnold Palmer and former British Open champion Ben Curtis.
Wilson led from start to finish, shooting an opening round 66 -- the event's low score -- and carded a 10-under 278 (66-70-71-71). He finished four strokes ahead of Scott Ross and six in front of Colin Biles, who plays at Ohio State.
After winning the Eastern Amateur, Moore finished 13th at the Ohio Amateur with a 1-over 289 (71-69-73-76).
