SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Northwestern sophomore Chris Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) closed his first NCAA postseason championship on a strong note, firing an even-par 70 to finish with a 12-over 222 (74-78-70) at the NCAA Central Regional Championships at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course.
Wilson, who started the final round in 94th place, moved up to 66th after Saturday's even-par effort.
Wilson turned in his most consistent round of the three-day Championships, carding 14 pars, two birdies and two bogeys.
Augusta State won the team championship, beating Oklahoma State by nine strokes. Purdue, the only Big Ten team to advance from the Central Regional, finished in a 10th-place tie, but had to win a playoff to earn its ticket to the National Championships.
The Central Regional individual title went to Augusta State's Kalle Edberg, who shot a 3-under 67 on Sunday to finish 5-under. Eastern Michigan's Korey Mahoney and Wichita State's Judd Easterling were the two individuals earning NCAA Championship berths.
