EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore Chris Wilson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) seeks a third straight top-10 finish when he and his fellow Wildcats travel to the Caribbean to play in the NCAA Puerto Rico Classic beginning Sunday (Feb. 27). The annual tournament continues with single rounds on Monday and Tuesday.

Like last week's Mercedes-Benz event, the Puerto Rico Classic features another loaded field -- perhaps an even stronger field of teams. Included in this year's 18-team field is No. 21 Florida, the preseason No. 1 team that got its act together last week and won the Mercedes-Benz Championship, No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 11 Duke, No. 15 Clemson, No. 17 Kent State and No. 19 Arizona State. Besides those top-20 programs, the Wildcats also get to face four Big Ten squads: No. 22 Minnesota, No. 28 Purdue, Illinois and Michigan.

"This is another great tournament with some outstanding teams and players," says NU Head Coach Pat Goss. "We have an opportunity to improve our district and national ranking by facing so many top-ranked programs. This is a good challenge for our young team."

The Puerto Rico Classic is behing held at the Westin Rio Mar Country Club (par 72, 6,945 yards) River Course.

Last year on the same course at the same event, Northwestern finished 15th. Dillon Dougherty (Woodland, Calif./Woodland) recorded the top underclassmen finish for the Wildcats (46th, 8-over 224) after he carded a 4-over 76 on the final round.
