Northwestern Set to Close Out Fall Season

EVANSTON, Ill. -- In the final tournament of a successful fall season, 16th-ranked Northwestern heads to San Martin, Calif., to take part in the CordeValle Collegiate. The first-time event is taking place Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the CordeValle Country Club.
The fifth-ranked UCLA Bruins play host to the 15-team event. Nine teams and 12 players are ranked in the Top 50 of the latest Golfweek poll. The field includes No. 5 UCLA, No. 43 Arizona, Arkansas, No. 25 Augusta State, California, No. 22 Notre Dame, No. 17 Pepperdine, Stanford, No. 29 Texas, Central Florida, North Carolina, No. 50 USC, Virginia and No. 11 Washington.
The Wildcats have placed first, second and sixth in three of their four tournaments this fall, with the first-place finish coming at the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge.
The format for the par-72, 7,169-yard CordeValle Collegiate will be 36 holes of stroke play on Mon. Oct. 31, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, Nov. 1. For up-to-date live results, visit CordeValle Collegiate.
Northwestern then enters a three-month hiatus before teeing off its spring season Feb. 26, 2006 at the Puerto Rico Classic.
