Wildcats Finish 10th at Inverness Intercollegiate

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Sophomore David Merkow (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead Union) fired an even-par 71 on Saturday to climb to a 19th-place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational at the Inverness Club. Merkow's strong round helped the Wildcats jump a pair of spots in the team standings and finish 10th overall.
Merkow shot an 11-over 224 (77-76-71) for the tournament.
Freshman Dan Doyle (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek), playing in his first collegiate tournament, concluded the three rounds with a 25th-place finish. He carded a 77 on Saturday to post a 13-over 226 (74-75-77).
Senior Dillon Dougherty (Woodland, Calif./Woodland) shot a 3-over 74 (78-75-74) on Saturday for his best round of the tournament. He placed 29th.
Juniors Bryson Young (Reno, Nev./Galena) and Scott Weber (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) rounded out the NU lineup, placing 47th and 60th, respectively.
Northwestern returns to action next weekend at the Notre Dame Invitational/Central Regional Preview.
