URBANA, Ill. - 2004 Northwestern graduate T.C. Ford captured the Illinois State Amateur Championship last week, defeating Rob Grube in a three-hole playoff at Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana.

The pair finished 72 holes of play tied at 2-under-par 282. Ford then birdied the first hole of the playoff and held on for the victory. He joins fellow NU grad (and current Wildcat assistant coach) Erik Ciotti as the only two 'Cats to win the event. Ciotti captured the title in 1997.

Two-time defending champion Todd Mitchell finished third, one-stroke behind the leaders.

Ford was a member of Northwestern's 2001 Big Ten Championship team which won the title at Stone Creek -- the home course of the University of Illinois. Former Wildcat and current PGA professional Luke Donald holds a share of the course record.

While at NU, Ford was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
