EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's golf team, ranked 13th and 20th in the latest respective Golfweek/Sagarin and coaches' polls, return to action this Monday and Tuesday, March 10-11 at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla. The tournament, which is hosted by Florida State, is being played at the Golden Eagle Country Club (par 72, 6,847 yards).

Seven top-50 programs join the Wildcats as favorites to take home this year's team title. 11th-ranked North Carolina, the defending tournament champion, is in the 15-team field, as well as sixth-ranked Wake Forest. Other top teams include 18th-ranked College of Charleston, 24th-ranked Tennessee, 34th-ranked East Tennessee State, 41st-ranked South Carolina and 46th-ranked Kentucky.

"The big thing for us is that we have another opportunity to compete against some teams (North Carolina, Wake Forest), who are national title contenders, and we get to see how we fare against them," said NU coach Pat Goss. "Wake and North Carolina also have two of the nation's best individuals."

The Wildcats are coming off a somewhat disappointing 11th-place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic. Northwestern's top two golfers, senior Scott Harrington (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) and junior Tom Johnson (Sacramento, Calif./Del Campo) had sub-par outings in San Juan.

"I expect Scott and Tom to come back and play well this week," said Goss.

In addition to Harrington and Johnson, senior Bjorn Widerstedt (Vasteras, Sweden/Carlforsska Gymnasiet), freshman Bryson Young (Reno, Nev./Galena) and junior T.C. Ford (Covington, La./Mandeville) round out the Wildcats' lineup.

The tournament begins Monday with fixed tee times at 7:15 a.m. (first round) and 12:10 p.m. (second roung). Tuesday's third round is a shotgun start, beginning at 8 a.m.
