Northwestern Will End Fall Season With The Prestige

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's 30th-ranked men's golf team travels to California to close out its fall season at The Prestige at PGA West. Play begins Monday, Nov. 3 in La Quinta, Calif., with 36 holes on the par-72, 6,481-yard La Quinta Resort Mountain Course. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The tournament field features 14 other squads from the nation's top 100 academic institutions, including co-hosts UC Davis and Stanford along with No. 1 UCLA, No. 6 TCU, No. 18 Washington and No. 24 Brigham Young.

Northwestern finished fourth among 20 teams at the 2001 Prestige.

The Wildcats are coming off their best finish of the season, a second-place tie with UCLA at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif. Sophomore Bryson Young (Reno, Nev./Galena) paced Northwestern with a career best 7-under 207 and a second-place finish. Tom Johnson (Sacramento, Calif./Del Campo), Casey Strunk (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird) and T.C. Ford (Covington, La./Mandeville) also finished in the top 15 for the Wildcats.

Depth has been a strength for the 'Cats this season. Four different golfers have posted top-10 finishes so far, including top -five marks by Young, Strunk and Dillon Dougherty (Woodland, Calif./Woodland).
