Men's Golf in 13th Place at The Prestige

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- After the first round of play at The Prestige, Northwestern's men's golf team sits in a 13th-place tie with Oregon and Pacific. Second-round play is set for Tuesday, Nov. 6. The tournament is being played on the Firecliff course at the Desert Willow Golf Resort.
The Wildcats are the defending tournament champion.
Junior Scott Harrington (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) led Northwestern with a 1-under-par 71. Sophomore Tom Johnson (Fair Oaks, Calif./Del Campo), who has paced the Wildcats this fall with a 71.0-stroke average, fired an even-par 72.
UC Davis and the University of Kansas both fired 10-under-pars, 278, to share the lead following the first round of play.
Kansas' Travis Hurst leads all players after shooting an opening-round 64, to take a one-shot lead over North Carolina's Dustin Bray following the first day of play. Monday's schedule called for two rounds to be played, however, the first round took more than five hours, and players were on the course with four holes left when darkness halted play.
