EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's golf team finished 10 strokes ahead of second place Ohio State to win the Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio for the second straight year. NU shot rounds of 297-285-294 for a total of 876 to finish plus-12 for the tournament.
Senior Jess Daley (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) took medalist honors and was the only golfer in the tournament to shoot under par. Daley shot rounds of 70-68-72 to finish the tournament with a 6-under-par 210. This win follows Daley's third-place finish at last week's Compaq Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico where he shot a course record 10-under-par 62. His final round 62 also tied him for second on the NCAA's all-time lowest round list, falling one stroke short of Tiger Woods' 11-under par at the 1996 Pac-10 Championships.
Junior Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England/Royal Grammar School) tied for second place with Michigan's Michael Harris, as they both finished at 1-over-par 217. Donald shot rounds of 74-69-74.
Senior Daniel Riskam tied for 5th after shooting rounds of 75-74-71, while senior Josh Habig (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) finished in a tie for 41st shooting rounds of 80-74-77. Rounding out NU's five was sophomore Chris Thayer (Richmond, Va./Godwin), who finished 71st playing in his first collegiate tournament.
