EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's Luke Donald has qualified for the 1999 British Open by carding an even par 70 on Sunday and a five-under 65 today at Panmure in Scotland. Donald, who as a sophomore won the NCAA Men's Golf Championship in June, will begin play this Thursday, July 15, at Carnoustie in Scotland.

This marks the second NU golfer this summer to play in one of golf's major championships. In June, Erik Ciotti made it through the qualifying rounds and earned a spot in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
