Men's Golf Seeded 12th at NCAA Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's golf team has earned the No. 12 seed at next week's NCAA Championships, to be played at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., on June 2-5. The University of Minnesota is the host school for the 1999 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. NU will be paired with 10th-seeded Florida and 11th-seeded BYU in Wednesday's opening round and Thursday's second round.
A total of 30 teams plus six individuals have earned berths into the NCAA Championships. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on those teams. Play will then continue with single rounds on Friday and Saturday.
The Wildcats are ranked 10th nationally in the latest Mastercard rankings and 13th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Sophomore national player of the year candidate Luke Donald is ranked No. 3 in the country in both polls with a stroke average of 70.39. Donald has won four individual tournament titles this season, the most of any player competing at the NCAA Championships. Tue., June 1 -- practice round (team tees off at 8:10 a.m. CDT on hole No. 10)
Wed., June 2 -- round one (NU tees off in nine minute intervals from 1:30-2:06 p.m. CDT)
Thu., June 3 -- round two (NU tees off in nine minute intervals from 7:57-8:33 a.m. CDT)
