Luke Donald Wins Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate

EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore men's golfer Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England/Royal Grammar School) fired a career-best 66 in Sunday's final round to win the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate Championship, played at Tanglewood Resort and Country Club in Pottsboro, Texas. Donald finished the 54-hole tournament at 10-under-par 206, four strokes ahead of Minnesota sophomore and last year's NCAA Champion James McLean. His final-round 66 is tied as the third-lowest single round score in Northwestern history.
Donald, who entered the tournament with the nation's best stroke average, lowered his average from 70.20 to 70.00 following the tournament. This marks the second-straight tournament title, and third overall this season, for Donald. He captured the Aldila Collegiate Classic in San Diego on March 9 as well as Stanford's The Nelson tournament on Nov. 1.
As a team, the 10th-ranked Wildcats finished in second place at 859, five strokes behind 12th-ranked Minnesota. Senior Josh Habig (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) tied for fourth place at one-under-par 215 while senior Erik Ciotti (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) tied for sixth place at even-par 216.
The top-10 team results as well as NU's complete individual totals appear below. Next up for the Wildcat men's golf team is the Marshall Invitational, scheduled for April 8-10 in Huntington, W. Va.
