Luke Donald Ranked No. 1 in Golfweek Collegiate Rankings

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomore men's golfer Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England) has taken over the top spot in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings released Friday morning. Donald, who owns a stroke average of 70.23, also is ranked No. 1 by Golfstat.

Donald has won three-straight tournaments and four of his last five events. He captured Stanford's The Nelson on Nov. 1, shooting a final-round 67 to finish at eight-under-par 205. In that tournament, he finished one stroke ahead of Stanford senior and 1998 U.S. Amateur Champion Joel Kribel, who is ranked No. 2 in the country by Golfweek and Golfstat.

Donald's recent run of three-straight tournament titles have come at the Aldila Collegiate Classic (March 8-9), Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate Championships (March 27-28) and the Kepler Intercollegiate Championships (April 17-18).

The Wildcats, ranked 13th in the latest Mastercard rankings and 14th by Golfstat and Golfweek, compete next in the Wolverine Invitational on May 8-9 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
