13th-Ranked Men's Golf Heads to Kepler Intercollegiate

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's golf team, ranked 13th in the country according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings, travels this weekend to the Kepler Intercollegiate Championships. The tournament will be played at Ohio State's Scarlet Course (par 72 -- 7,102 yards) in Columbus, Ohio.
The 'Cats are part of a 15-team field: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, NU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Toledo and Wisconsin. The tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Sat., April 17, with the final round played on Sun., April 18. Complete team and Northwestern individual results will be posted nightly on Northwestern's official internet site (www.nusports.com).
The Wildcats have won two of the last three tournaments, capturing team titles at the Aldila Collegiate Classic (March 8-9) and last weekend's Marshall Invitational (April 9-10). In between, NU took second place at the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate (March 27-28).
Sophomore Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England) holds the No. 1 spot in this week's Golfstat Cup rankings with a 70.00 stroke average this year. Stanford's Joel Kribel is second (70.29) with Texas' David Gossett ranked third (70.55). The Golfstat Cup is awarded to the collegiate player with the lowest season stroke average. In the latest Mastercard rankings, released by the College Golf Foundation, senior Josh Habig (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) stands 89th in the country.
