Men's Golf Tied for First at The Nelson

EVANSTON, Ill - The top-ranked Northwestern men's golf team is tied with Fresno State for first place after two days at The Nelson, being hosted by Stanford University.

The Wildcats and Fresno are both at 563 through two rounds, giving them a three-stroke lead over the host Cardinal and Washington. Arizona is in fifth place at 568.

Individually, Martin Maritz continues to hold onto the lead, as he shot 68 on Saturday to go to a two-round total of 135. Danny Paniccia of Fresno State blitzed the course with a 65 and moved into second, one stroke behind Maritz, while Troy Kelly of Washington is third at 137. Northwestern's Jess Daley is alone in fourth with a 138 after shooting 70 Saturday, while Luke Donald is tied with four others in fifth place at 139.

Scott Harrington is also in the Top 20, tied at 14th overall with a two-round total of 141. Daniel Riskam came on strong Saturday, shooting 69 to move into a tie for 38th, while Josh Habig is in a tie for 70th.

The Nelson continues with the final round Sunday morning.
