MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Coming off two home victories, the Northwestern men's tennis team is hitting the road to face Memphis on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. CT.

The Wildcats (6-2) are off to their best opening to a dual season since 2022. The team's six-match win streak is its best since the 2023 campaign.
This past weekend, NU defeated Alabama on the road, 6-1, before returning home to sweep both Xavier and Chicago State during a Sunday doubleheader. Junior Cyrus Mahjoob registered a straight-set victory over Alabama's Matic Kriznik, the No. 27-ranked singles player in the nation. Mahjoob went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles over the weekend. In addition, first-year Cooper Han was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance. Han went 1-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles, including a win at Alabama, a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Chicago State. Senior Chad Miller and junior Ethan Schiffman each went 3-0 in singles, the lone Wildcats to do so.

Sophomore Carter Pate, who has competed at both the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions, leads the team with six singles victories (6-2). Teaming up with junior Greyson Casey at the No. 1 doubles slot, the duo is undefeated at 5-0 this season. Pate's 12 total wins between singles and doubles are the most on the team.

Behind Pate, Schiffman has tallied 10 wins with a 5-1 singles record and 5-0 doubles record. Schiffman and Mahjoob have logged a 3-0 doubles record together.

Sunday's contest will be Northwestern's fifth consecutive year facing the Tigers (5-1). The Wildcats have dropped each of the last four faceoffs and are aiming for their first win over Memphis since January 19, 2020. The Tigers have a pair of ranked doubles teams, with Moritz Kudernatsch and Maxime Dubouch at No. 83 nationally and Marcos Castro Fabra and Sam Reeve at No. 87.

After the Memphis matchup, Northwestern returns to Combe Tennis Center to host a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Wildcats will face Marquette at 10 a.m. CT and Illinois State at 4 p.m. CT.
