EVANSTON, Ill. (February 5, 2026) – After helping the Wildcats retain the Gantner Cup for a third consecutive season, Northwestern University senior Daniel Svärd (Jarfalla, Sweden/Celsiusskolan Uppsala) has been named the Big Ten Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday. This marks the second weekly league honor of Svärd's career.

Svärd opened last Saturday's matchup with Michigan State by joining forces with first-year Isaac Lee for a 6&5 victory in foursomes action.  The Jarfalla, Sweden native wrapped up his stay at the Mountain Lake Country Club (par 72; 7,375 yards) with a dominant 4&3 win alongside sophomore Mark Gazi in his afternoon four-ball pairing.

Recently named to the 2026 Ben Hogan Award Watch List, Svärd currently sports a team-low 70.86 stroke average across 15 rounds of play this season.  He has a trio of top-five finishes to his name and has fired a team-best eight rounds in the 60s.  Svärd appears at No. 16 in the PGA Tour University Rankings.

Northwestern returns to action in just under two weeks, February 16-18, for The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
