  • Consists of 6 academic advisors and 1 learning strategist/study skills coordinator
  • Provide access to over 65 tutors each quarter, specializing in 135 classes across 61 subjects
  • The 24-25 school year saw 2,612 individual tutoring sessions + close to 600 group tutoring sessions.
  • 56% of our student-athletes met with at least one tutor during the 24-25 academic year
  • Advising staff meets consistently with all new students to assist in college readiness and acclimation
  • Learning strategist meets weekly with a caseload of student-athletes to support educational preparedness
  • 7 full-time sports dietitians, 2 Nutrition Operations Staff Members, 1 part-time dietitian
  • Conduct Over 800 individual meetings and assessments and over 230 dietary supplement reviews and recommendations each year
  • In collaboration with Levy, performance nutrition conducts cooking classes and demonstrations for our student-athletes
  • Four full-time licensed mental health providers with specialized training in mental health and mental performance for student-athletes, plus a full-time postdoctoral fellow, psychiatrist, and program assistant
  • Student-athletes' utilization of individual services increases every year; in 2024-2025, more than 2900 appointments were provided to approximately 50% of the total student-athlete population
  • All 21 varsity teams have access to a sport psychology provider to work with individuals and teams on mental skills to optimize their performance on the field and in the classroom
  • Sport Psychology staff educate student-athletes, coaches, and staff on wide-ranging mental health and performance topics, such as mental health literacy, suicide prevention, stress management, mindfulness meditation, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs), and more
  • 7 Olympic Sports Performance Coaches including an Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance and a Director for Olympic Sports Performance
  • The Olympic Sports Performance staff works with nearly 400 student-athletes on a daily basis covering all performance needs for 21 varsity sports.
  • The impact of the Performance staff goes beyond the walls of the weight room. They are integral in practice planning and periodization, load monitoring, return to play protocols and monitoring player readiness.
  • Olympic Sports Performance staff uses technology to enhance and monitor the training and recovery for each Northwestern Student-Athlete. Some pieces of technology include: Force Plates, GPS units, Heart Rate units, Velocity Based Training devices, Athlete management systems
  • Olympic Sports Performance staff have been a part of multiple National and Big Ten Championships. They have also been instrumental in the development of multiple athletes who have gone on to compete professionally in the NBA, WNBA, MLB, NFL, MLS, NWSL, WPL. Performance staff members have also trained and developed multiple athletes who have gone on to represent their country on the world and Olympic stage.
