EVANSTON, Ill. (October 29, 2026) – Prior to officially beginning the 2026-27 season next week, Northwestern will host Lewis inside Welsh-Ryan Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. CT.  Admission is free of charge.  The matchup will air on B1G+, while Adam Beck (play-by-play) will provide audio commentary through the official YouTube page of Northwestern Athletics.

Following a decorated coaching tenure at Princeton University, head coach Carla Berube is set to begin her first season leading the Wildcats.  Named the seventh head coach in program history on March 25, Berube piled up 147 victories during her time in the Garden State, leading the Tigers to five Ivy League championships and five trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Berube welcomes back eight letterwinners from last season, a group led by the pairing of Casey Harter and Xamiya Walton.  Harter is fresh off a standout junior campaign in which she averaged 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists across a team-high 35.1 minutes per game, a mark that ranked second in the Big Ten Conference.  Walton established herself as Northwestern’s top threat from distance as a sophomore, connecting on a team-high 43 triples en route to operating at just under 40 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Casey Harter

Casey Harter started in 25 of her 26 appearances last season, averaging a career-best 10.0 points. Harter's 35.1 minutes per game ranked second in the Big Ten Conference.

After Berube’s arrival in Evanston this past spring, the Wildcats added four Division I transfers, a quartet that features Lexi Blue (Kentucky), Lily Carmody (Boston College), Camdyn Nelson (Syracuse), and Jasmyn Cooper-Derba (Syracuse).  Northwestern will also be buoyed by three first-years in Xyanna Walton (Chicago, Ill./Butler College Prep), Brooke Golden (Chester, N.H./Tilton School), and Romana Jelenc (Železniki, Slovenia/Celje First Grammar School).

SCOUTING LEWIS
Under the guidance of second-year head coach Dodie Dunson II, Lewis was picked to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll.  The Flyers opened their exhibition slate this past Tuesday, giving Loyola Chicago all it could handle in an 80-73 setback.

Dunson’s crew is led by Mallory Ramage, who averaged a team-high 14.6 points last season en route to earning First Team All-GLVC honors.  Ramage paced Lewis in its matchup earlier this week, pouring in 20 points (6-10 FGs, 4-7 3FGs, 4-4 FTs) to lead a trio of Flyers to score in double figures.
