Eleven ‘Cats to Compete at USA Swimming Short Course World Trials

EVANSTON, Ill. - Eleven members of the Northwestern swimming and diving team will compete at the upcoming 2026 USA Swimming Short Course World Trials, which will be held from Oct. 28 to 31 at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont, Ill. Participating Wildcats will begin racing with five events on Thursday, Oct. 29.

The competition, the first of its kind, serves as a USA Swimming selection meet for the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) 2026, which will take place from Dec. 1 to 6 in Beijing, China. A full explanation of the U.S. team selection procedure can be found here.

Grey Davis, Aya Ferguson, Zoe Nordmann, Cade Duncan, Diego Nosack, Connor Schuster and Stuart Seymour are Northwestern’s American representatives at the meet, and will be eligible for selection to the U.S. Short Course World Championships team. International swimmers David Gerchik, Flawia Kamzol, Oli Kos and Josh Staples will also compete, but solely in the preliminary heats of the competition.

Northwestern has U.S. swimmers seeded in the top eight across five different events. Seymour is the sixth seed in the 100 IM, the fourth seed in the 50 Back and the eighth seed in the 100 Back. Nosack is seeded sixth in the 200 IM, while Nordmann is the third seed in the 800 Free — the highest seed amongst Wildcats eligible for Team USA selection.
