EVANSTON, Ill. (October 22, 2026) – Fresh off back-to-back results at home, Northwestern (5-5-3, 2-3-2 B1G) faces off with one of the nation’s elites on Friday evening, as it visits No. 4 Indiana to open a two-game road swing. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT from Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats picked up their second result against a top-10 opponent this past Monday, battling No. 10 UCLA to a 0-0 draw at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.

Playing without senior captain Fritz Volmar due to red card suspension, Northwestern’s defensive unit turned in a stout performance, limiting the Bruins to just one shot on goal, as Northwestern became the first team this season to shut out UCLA.

For his efforts in the Wildcats’ last two matchups, Josue Pfrommer was named the Big Ten Conference’s Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. Pfrommer has developed into a fixture in head coach Russell Payne’s lineup, starting in six of Northwestern’s last seven contests, a run that has included a pair of clean sheets.

SCOUTING INDIANA
After suffering its first defeat of 2026 in a 1-0 setback to Rutgers last Friday, Indiana (12-1-2, 5-1-1 B1G) bounced back with a 1-0 blanking of Ohio State this past Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio. Easton Bogard tallied the night’s deciding goal, his sixth of the season, in the 41st minute of play. Ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, the Hoosiers, who sit atop the Big Ten Conference table, carry a spotless 10-0 record at home into Friday’s meeting with the Wildcats.

Oliver Moller-Jensen leads the line for four-time Big Ten Coach of the Year Todd Yeagley’s team. Moller-Jensen’s 10 goals on the year rank second in the Big Ten and eighth nationally in Division I. Bogard also resides inside the top 10 on the league’s scoring chart, with his six tallies putting him sixth in the Big Ten.

After earning First Team All-Big Ten honors with Maryland in 2025, Stephane Njike hasn’t skipped a beat since joining the Hoosiers, dishing out a team-high six assists, a mark that ranks third on the league leaderboard in the category.

In addition to its prowess in the final third, Indiana boasts one of the nation’s top defensive units. Anchored by goalkeeper Michael Mroz (0.57 GAA; 0.843 SV%), the Hoosiers sport a Big Ten-best 0.53 goals against average, good enough for third nationally, and surrender just north of three shots on goal per game to opposing teams.
