EVANSTON, Ill. – Coming off three dual victories, the Northwestern men's tennis team (3-2) is headed to Alabama for a road match, before returning home for a doubleheader.

The Wildcats will face the Crimson Tide (2-2) in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Friday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m. CT for their first away contest of the season. Back in Evanston, NU will host Xavier and Chicago State on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT, respectively.

After a 1-2 opening weekend, the 'Cats fought for two wins, taking down IU Indy and Cleveland State at home. Carter Pate collected a 4-0 day, claiming both of his doubles and singles matches. Ethan Schiffman and Cooper Han also delivered NU to victory, each posting doubles and singles wins.

Scouting Alabama
The Crimson Tide has a split start to their season, as they look to improve on their 2024-25 finish of 15-13 at No. 36. Alabama's Matic Kriznik is in the most recent singles rankings, coming in at No. 27. They also have two doubles duos in the top 75, in No. 12 Jacob Olar and Andrii Zimnokh, as well as No. 66 Vit Kalina and Kriznik.

Scouting Xavier
Xavier comes to Evanston after a tough 0-3 start to the season. Visiting Illinois and Northern Illinois prior to NU, the Musketeers seek road victory. Only two singles matches have been won so far for Xavier, a straight-set victory at No. 1 from Nick Herdoiza, and a back-and-forth battle for Max Pettingell, landing on top at No. 4 singles. The young Musketeers roster has only three upperclassmen, led by head coach Ryan Rasco.

Scouting Chicago State
After being dealt four losses to open the spring season, Chicago State seeks its first victory, yet to claim a point. The Cougars' roster is made up of two freshmen, two sophomores, and a senior. In its second season led by Director of Tennis Keiran President, CSU looks to improve on its 1-11 finish from last year.
