EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 65 Northwestern Men's Tennis (10-10, 3-3 B1G) will close its four-match homestand this Saturday in a doubleheader against Illinois and Youngstown State. The 'Cats are set to face Illinois at noon CT, with the matchup against Youngstown State to follow at 6 p.m. CT.

Despite tough losses to UCLA and USC this past weekend, Max Bengtsson was a bright spot for Northwestern, going a flawless 2-0 last Friday against USC. Bengtsson secured a win at No. 3 doubles alongside partner Vincent Yang before securing the 'Cats' sole point of the match with an individual victory at No. 4 singles. The duo of Bengtsson and Yang are now 3-1 this season when playing together.

Chad Miller and Felix Nordby also picked up a doubles victory, improving their record to 5-2 with a win at the No. 2 spot against UCLA on Sunday.

To open this weekend, Northwestern will face the 23rd-ranked Fighting Illini (10-6, 4-2 B1G), who enter the weekend 4-4 over their last eight dual matches. Illinois also faced USC and UCLA last week, defeating the former and falling to the latter. The Illini hold the edge in the all-time series with the Wildcats, boasting an all-time record of 72-39-2. Most recently, Illinois took last year's matchup by a score of 7-0.

For the Illini, Kenta Miyoshi enters the weekend as the ITA's 16th-ranked singles competitor in the nation, and teammate William Mroz ranks 62nd. Miyoshi is 22-9 (2-1 B1G) in singles dual play while Mroz is 18-7 (3-0 B1G).

Youngstown State (10-5) comes into Evanston on a dominant three-match win streak, claiming convincing victories over Duquesne, IU Indy and Northern Kentucky. However, Northwestern poses the biggest challenge yet for the Penguins, as the Wildcats are the only ranked opponent that Youngstown State has encountered this season. The two programs will be meeting for the first time in program history on Saturday.

Following this weekend, the 'Cats will hit the road to resume Big Ten play at Michigan State on Friday, April 4, before visiting Michigan on Sunday, April 6.
